Staging Your Office

September 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

There has been a recent influx in shows that demonstrate how you should sell your home. Arranging your home to be more appealing to buyers is known as staging. The first step of staging your home is always to declutter. In order to make your home look appealing, you have to get rid of your junk and make your space look organized and presentable. You want your home to appeal to buyers, right? Well, space, lots of space, makes people want your home! It will also make you feel more comfortable and productive there.

Not coincidentally, the same applies to your office space. No, you should not try to sell it! But you should want to create a space that is visually appealing and sets the stage for comfort and productivity. The same basic principles of making your home comfortable and appealing apply to your place of work. Removing the clutter will make it seem bigger, and more inviting. Making sure all items are functional and used often, while getting rid of the things that are not utilized for productivity will create a space that is conducive to taking care of business. A home stager noted that furniture also creates clutter. If you bump up against a table or chair when entering a room, you probably need to remove it.

Again, this is the same for your office. Remember that any pieces of furniture need to be functional and out of a walkway, allowing for free movement in and through your office. Your goal is productivity. If you remove all frivolous items and keep only the things that function to help increase your work capabilities, you’ll naturally be more productive!
